Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I had a project plan that started at March 1st. I save the same plan to be used for another project that will start on May 20th. The two projects are very similar.

The problem is that everytime I start the new plan in MS Project the view of the gantt chart starts at March 1st not May 20th.

The earliest task will start at 20 May and the project information tell that project start date is May 20. Why the view insists on starting at 1 March??

Please help

TIA

Click Project
Project Information
In the Start Date box, give the new Start date (20 March or whatever).

That’s all. Now your new project will will have a default start date of 20 March.

Good luck.

Hi Mark,

1) Click Print Preview
2) Change all the setting on page setup based on your requirement such as Header, Footer, Margin, Number of Columns..etc..
3) Click Print -> then change the timescale dates from and to (range of date to print)
4) Click Preview to check if everything is Okay.
5) If your happy on the settings Click Print -> Okay.

That should solve your problem.

I have a slightly different problem with the dates in the Gantt view.

My document is also a copy of an earlier project. I have saved the view so it shows the correct dates, but when I print the Gantt it starts several weeks before the actual start date of my project.

I’ve updated all the dates in the project, and the overall project start date. I have also cleared the baseline information.

Am I missing a simple way of defining the print range of a Gantt chart?

thanks
Mark

Mudar,

Move the view using horizontal scroll bar start to any date you want and save. Every time you open your project your view will start on the save view date.
