Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Hemanth,

If you haven’t done so already, set up the format in the way Alexandre described. The reason you get a question mark after you initially click in the duration cell is to prompt you to accept or change the value.

If you change the value the question mark disappears, the easiest way to do this is to use the upward and downward pointing arrows, or click into the cell again, highlight everything and type in the number you require, then click into another cell. If you need to use a figure like 5.4 days, you can enter this by highlighting the contents of the cell and overtyping them to the value you require.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi Hemanth,

In MS Project the default Duration unit is days. You can adjust the duration of an activity by whole days as follows:

Click in the Duration cell of the activity you want to adjust and either overtype the figure, or use the upward or downward pointing arrows to give the value you want.

You can change the default units as follows:

Click on Tools and from the menu displayed click on Options.
On the dialogue box displayed click on the Schedule tab.
You will now be able to change the Duration or Work units.
Click OK to accept the new settings or Set as Default followed by OK to make the new units your default for your project.
