Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Negative float can either come incorrect finish date of your project (as explained by Hilal), either you have put constarint.

Primary constraints like Mandatory start/finish, "Start on", "Finish on" are deleting your float.

It means that even if you have margin, by applying these constraints, P6 launch calculation considering them as 0 float. Any delay will thus generate negative float,

Dear All,

Thank you very much for your great help. I did try to change the finish date of the project it's work ok for overall TF but still have -ve values for some WBS's and I don't want to change the duration also I am talking about 4000 activities. I got TF=-170 so how I can avoid that? Also, I need to know if that commen issue if I show the owner my current schedule with -ve TF?

Thank you again,,

can you really avoid negative float? i dont think you can, its a matter of a program telling you where you will not meet your finish date,

Hello Hani,

I had this same problem when developing a programme. I had negative floats because my finish date in the programme did not match the "must finish by" date in the project details tab. When I changed the "must finish by" date in the project details tab to match the finish date in the actual programme, my negative floats changed to zero.
