Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

All,
I have a 3,000 line schedule that was created tweaked, and leveled in P3.1. We have imported it into a clean install of P6.3.

The duration units in P3.1 were in hours, and now in P6 they are in days. In the P6.3 plan, the dates seem to be pretty consistent with the dates from P3.1, but the durations are the problem.

Not only did the durations convert from hours to days, they also multiplied by a third [(1/3)or(33%)]. So an activity that was showing in P3.1 is supposed to take 7 24 hour shifts to complete (7 days on a 24 hour calander) is showing up at 21 "Original Duration" UNITS in p6.3.
So for an activity in P6.3 under the "Original Duration" column it shows 21, but the start and finish dates are only 7 days long. I also checked to make sure on the activities that I am using the imported 24/7 calander from P3.1 in P6.3.

So I guess after all that, my question is: How do I change the way the units are defined for original duration? or should I just run a global change and divide all the original duration units by 3? (I assume if I did the later though, that it would change the start and finish dates to be 1/3 the time.)

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Teague

P6 internally only keeps hours. Just to display in the user interface it can be calculated into different units - based on your user preferences and the admin preferences for time units. Especially beginners for Primavera have many difficulties with this issue.
Primavera announced some modification in version 7

Thanks for your response Dieter,

I believe there is very little change in P6.2 to P6.3.

I will take a look at it and try to import it again.

I would like to keep the schedule in days in P6 though.

I have no experience with P6.3 - we have P6.2.1 - but the import should be equivalent.

When you run through the wizzard, you’ll find a button "Advanced". Select this one to select between hours and days as a unit.

Global change: Original duration will not satisfy, e.g. remaining -, actual duration.
