Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

PPlanet,

On a plan i have several activities with resource dependent activity type, fixed units/time, with a primary resource that only work a 3 day week.(Mon-Wed)

When i move the data date to Tuesday, for an unstarted 3 day task i expect the activity to extend in duration so that the days work that was planned for Wednesday moves to Monday, but what actually happens is that the finish date move to the Thursday.
This seems wrong to me as i thought, where an activity is resource dependent, the work will be scheduled against the resource calendar of the primary resource?

Has anyone come across this before?

The problem was that i didnt have the Drive Activity Dates by Defaults box ticked at project level.

This meant that although the activities were set to resource dependent, the start/finish dates were not driven by the availability of the resource, but followed the activity calendar instead.

I would be interested to know a scenario that would require a resource driven plan not to be driven by the resources availability.

i.e. when would you not want the Drive Activity Dates by Defaults box ticked?
