Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

Hi all,
I am having bit of an issue to set leveling priorities at Activy Codes levels. i.e. having a number of different equipment to be overhauled during a turnaround i like to level the plan so that it reflect the desired priorities.
I like to avoid creating a new activity code like "Priorities" to avoid extra work as I suspect primavera (P6) must have allowed for this .. maybe shift up/down???
any ideas highly appreciated

There is ’built-in’ Activity Leveling Priority field which should be used. You can find the column under General section.

David,
Thanks for the input. I hope that is how priorities are set which could help us alot
Shiv,
What I have in mind would be to also look at a combination of resource leveling, float paths, critical path to determine how to spread the work and to justify the outcomes. It will get more complex if looking at more than one project/turnaround at a time since the resources come from only 1 resource pool and thsi is yet to be worked on and see the results

Mohsen,

I am also working on similar turnaround for an LNG Plant .
Allmost my entire resource are staggered in the ist 10 days of the total 40 days as all workscope are expected to start on zero date and are 7/10 day activity.

I wanted to go for Resource levelling but the priority are to be fixed if we need to use the equipment as priority or some thing else .
I am not sure how r you going to handel .

regards

Shiv

Mohsen,

If you use an existing activity code for resource levelling priorities, it will use the collating sequence you have left the activity code dictionary in.
