Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Seams a trivial issue but was really useful in P3!

Most of our clients run 4-week periods, not months. When printing a bar chart I set vertical sight lines to 4 weeks for major and 1 week for minor. This will show the client’s reporting periods.

In P3 I could adjust the start of the timescale to get the major sight lines corresponding to period ends.
In P5 I have no control over where they start.

Does anyone have any idea how to control the position sight lines?

Hi John
I checked in P6 and I don’t remember a modification since P5 at this place. It worked. Weekly sight lines relate to the start day of the week in your admin preferences.
Nigel’s solution would work as well, but the financial periods a unique.

Dieter

Dieter - Thanks, but that works in P3 and not in P5. It seems whatever I do I cannot influence where the sight lines are drawn.

Nigel - Yes, Network Rail is the client I referred to!

Our financial periods are months, yet NR and other clients use a 4-weekly period. That’s why I’d like to show print-outs with the 4 weekly sight lines.

Regards - John

Hi John
There is a window where you assign and adjust the sight lines. You can access by:
move mouse into the graph area --> right click --> bar chart options --> sight lines you select "by week"
Start of the time scale:
move mouse into the graph area --> right click --> Time scale --> start date
e.g. you set it to April 1st, 2008 and admin --> admin preferences --> general --> start of the week := Monday. Then the first sight line will be on Monday April 7, 2008.
As far as I remember it is similiar to P3.

Try setting financial period and displaying those.
Network Rail use a similar setting - four week periods by showing the financial periods on the timescale (date interval field)
Hope this helps
