Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Primavera version 3 continue please

Hello, I am master in P 3.0/3.1, i have used it in my works more than 10 years. I’m now also familiar with P3e, PM4.1 until PM6.1. From this forum i’d like to request Primavera, strongly and deeply from my heart, to continue with improvement of P3.1. P3.1 is very powerfull scheduling tools with many interesting features such as flexible reports, filters, global change, powerfull export/import, etc.

In my opinion, PM generations look like not continuation of P3.1 but they look like another software (new platform & new face). Primavera inc. stops P3.1 and change to PM. It’s ok but please don’t stop to improve P3, I am and many fans of P3 still can’t leave it. So we are waiting your next release for P3.1B,C to Z. Please another fans of P3.1 to support this issue. Thank you

Earned Value has more than 30 years history of usage in project management, mostly in Defense.
There are other methods like Trend analysis, Critical Chain and buffer management that may be considered as new.

Thanks Vladimir, I’ll try first Spider demo. But why do say Earned value method was traditional approach becuase so far I assume EV as an advanced method in Proj Mgt.
Spider Project is most popular professional Russian PM software. It is used for management of most large projects in Russia including large state prgrams like preparation of 2014 Winter Olympic Games (more than 200 construction projects), development of Russian East (including building of 2 large ocean bridges), highways construction program (many thousands kilometers of highways), etc. It is also used in 24 other countries. The company that developed Spider has branches in Ukraine, Belarus, Romania, and Brazil.

The package has many unusual functions like parametric estimation of activity duration: one can define the quantity of work to be done (volume of work) and assigned resource productivities. Activity duration is calculated. SP users can create (or import) and use any number of norm databases like cost and material requirements per one volume unit for typical activities, resource productivities on typical assignments, etc.
The packages optimizes resource-constrained schedules taking into account not only resource but also financial and supply constraints, supports any number of cost components, calculated user fields, includes risk simulation, etc.
And of course it supports all traditioppnal approaches like Earned Value.
SP schedules can be exported to Primavera and vice versa, though this feature is not included in SP Demo that can be downloaded from http://www.spiderproject.ru/demo_e.php
Demo has 40 activities per project restriction.

Charley, thank you for remembering SPIDER.

Lol...So It means Primavera inc. decision to stop P3 was too political rather than hearing their customers needs. I think Primavera inc. should change their mind to maintain their heavy fans. Now they have modul PM and WebMaster why not also to integrate PM with P3, i think it’s possible.

Charleston, what’s SPIDER ? it’s very new for me. Where can get good information about it pls !

Rahmat,

I share your sentiment.

But it is not realistic.

With Oracle gaining hold of primavera, we need to expect the worst because this will be a money making business anymore with new upgrade ver XXX, YYY, ZZZ with the intent to squeze more money from us.

I think we do need to look for another planning software.

How about SPIDER

Cheers

I wouldnt hold your breath.

Primavera have catagorically stated that there will be no further development of P3 ever.
