Following my weekly updates I run a report to monitor the performance of our Construction Teams and present the findings to Management.
While doing last weeks updates I did a audit on the "Earned Hours" (Achieved Labor Units) and found that I was short of 18 hours from a weekly total of 36 from 1 man for a week.

I update by percentage complete.

I have Duration Type - Fixed Duration & Units
I have % Complete Type - Duration

Can anyone advise as to why the system is not correctly calculating the difference between actual and remaining
and to give me some idea as how to fix my problem?

Thanks for your interest,

Milton.

Gidday Raj,

Thanks for your reply to my query. I have found out that each time I alter hours and days in my Projects I have to create another baseline to get rid of the variances.
It’s not the way I like planning, but it’s the way we do things here at present. I plan to change that. Planning for four builds makes for a very busy schedule for One Planner.

I have asked the question of Primavera to verify if the % Complete Type should be "units" rather than duration. I will get back to you.

I have had no formal training in Primavera. I have been using it now for a couple of years and learning all the time.

Cheers,

Milton.

Hi Milton,

The variance could be due to a variety of reasons since you have set activity % complete as duration complete as units %. Now if the original duration was 10 days, and if the at completion duration is going to be 15 days due to some delays, then you might end up with a reduced earned value by 50%. This is my 2 cents. I usually stick to units % complete when resource loading a schedule. Please do drop a line if this is the issue, or if you figured out the problem due to something else. I am interested to know. Thank you.

Cheers,
Raj
