Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I tried merging two P3 files - each with a different planning unit i.e., one has "Weeks" and the other has "Days".

I first copied the file with "Weeks" and changed it’s unit to "Days". I used this copied version as the host and brought in the file with "Days".

P3 did not convert the host file’s "Weeks" to "Days". The numeric value of the OD remained unchanged but with different units. This doesn’t serve me any purpose.
e.g., 1 week became 1 day and NOT 5 work days.

Is there a way to have P3 convert the OD automatically from weeks to days (assuming the default Cal #1)?

Thanks,

Kashyap

I guess a Global Change would solve the trick but it wouldn’t apply to ’lags’.

Thanks for the suggestion,

There are two reasons why you would merge projects with different planning units.

1) Summary reporting, i.e. the output project does NOT need to be scheduled. In this case the dates that come across for the "mixed" planning unis are correct and the summary project should NOT be scheduled.

2) Further scheduling. A global change will be required to change the durations of either the "daily" or "hourly" activities. This MUST be run before you schedule.

Use Global Change to make the changes.
