Suspended of work

Hi Clive,

even if the suspended work is your own fault, keep track of it in your timeschedule. If later you see that there is a concurrend delay it may get very important to see which part is yours and which part is due to the client. If you hide your problems, client has most opportunities to give all the problems to you if there is a concurrend delay.

So my opinion is to show own delays as well as they are know to verebody anyhow.

Steven,

In this case, in addition to creating a calendar for the suspended work periods, might as well fill-in the Log Form with a note for the reason of suspension (reference memo, minutes of meeting, instruction from the Project Managers/Cleints, etc.)

Agreed, there are many ways suspension can be displayed, but please remember 2 or 3 years from now, when people have moved on to other things, or been run over by a bus (not a threat) that someone may have to re-trace the history of a project (in support of a claim, for example) having a plan with a curtain, or a defined resource calender wouldnt really help.

of course there is a dirty trick - if you also show a resource-bar and the beginning of the resource is behind the activity end, then you see two bars in one line - but if you suspend work, there is an important reason for that. This reason should not be forgotten somewhere in the future, so make an activity out of it.

Alex,

if someone says 1+1=2, then I can’t say that any more?

for the author of this post, he’ll see at least 2 PPers suggest to do this way.

Back to the question,(sorry for repeating your...)

another option print the schedule to a bitmap file, then open with picture processing software (e.g. photoshop), then draw whatever you want.

I been following some of your posting. Please consider not to repeat other members message.

Back to the question,

Another option you can show in the schedule when you want to show a suspended period of works. Using the Curtin provided in P3 where when you printing the schedule it is shaded and you can put some comments against it. It will clearly show that period is not working.

The command is in ’VIEW’ - ’ Attachment Tools’

Of course you still need to adjust either your calenda or supspend the activities.

I would recommend that you copy your calendar and make a new one called "Suspension." Put in the suspension period(s) as holidays. Then assign those suspended activities to this calendar. Show holidays as necking on your display. Good luck!

Much better to create new activities defining the duration of suspension (and the reasons).

Dear all,

Think u have an option to show "Necking Bars" on bars options (click with right botton on grant chart).

Regards.
