Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello,
We have a baseline schedule with Project start date of 1-January-2009.The schedule has been updated regularly since then. Now the Program is to be revised as on 15-may-2010.If we update the schedule till 15-may-2010 with actual dates and run the schedule with date date of 15-may-2010 and do the required revision to the duration/logic of the activities,it is OK.
The Point we want to Clarify is it is acceptable to have a revised program with actual dates and data date not as per the contract start date.Or there should not be any actual dates and the data date should be project start date

Kumar,
It depends on your intention, approach and how you wanted to show your baseline. (Below link are some discussion on re-baseline for your reference)
How to set Baseline- After revised the Schedule and to

Baseline with actual dates in

Rodel,
The clarification required is in primavera do you input actual dates for the completed /inprogress activities upto the schedule revision date and use the same as date date .In this case while scheduling there will not be a closed loop and is there possibilities for errors.

On the other hand the hand is it not better to have the data date as the project start date and revise the schedule without any actual dates.

Kumar,
Like what I have said as long as it is accepted by the client then it should be fine.

Yes it is a general practice and Re-Baseline means reflection of Actual plus remaining activities which may have different logic, target & finish date. It is an update of previous baseline and a result of crushing or new construction methodology is being applied to show more reliable baseline. You should explain the reason why re-baseline is required and basis of schedule for the new baseline to convince the client.

What is the used of new baseline if that is far from the actual history of a project?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. You mean it is the general practice to update the schedule with actual dates till the date of schedule revision and revise the remaining part.To summarise revised schedule with actual dates and with data date, the date of schedule revision and not the project start date is acceptable

Kumar,
Normal practice of re-baseline is reflection of Actual plus the remaining activities which shows the history of the project. As long as it was agreed by the clients, it should be fine. You should also include the reason of re-baseline and Basis of Schedule revision to buy-in the client.
