Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

dear all,

I understand the "trace logic" option in P6 - is there a way to extract the full path in excel ? especially if the Activity sucessor is then a predecessor to another activty and  then a sucessor to another predecessor follow on etc etc

maybe i didnt explain well,  -( i think) the purpose is to show all the linkages for a 1 off report and this information will be used for a differring purpose.

I dont want to modify anything - i just want a full path of predecessors and succussors which may have more than one of each?

not sure if this can be done? - open to ideas if it is possible?

Dear all:

I agree with Mr. Kelly.

Trace logic is intended to be used as a graphical tool for an easy analysis. When exported to a spreadsheet, it comes a "static" tool (useful for reference). Note taht it is possible to define the number of levels shown for pred/succ activities.

Yes. Any 'Tabular report' can be sent straight to Excel. BUT the next value used in column one of the spreadsheet cannot be modified by the successor ID of the current row. This makes the spreadsheet much less navigable than Trace Logic.
