The problem was due to the .gif image which was oversized in the header option. I resized the image and saved it as .jpg format and now it is working fine.

let me quess you have instered a picture or logo into your header or footer with a .shs extension?
there are 2 possibel solutions
Option #1
Switch to a Layout that does not contain the '.shs' file in the Header or Footer
Option #2
Configure Windows so that it displays all File Extensions, including '.shs'.
To do this Go to the Control Panel and select Folder Options.
Click on the File Types tab.
Select the file type 'Scrap Object' with extension 'SHS'.
Click on the Advanced button.
Place a check in the box for 'Always Show Extension'.
Edit the Registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShellScrap.
Delete the value 'NeverShowExt'.
Delete any '.shs' files or Rename their extension.
