Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi All This is my first post! I am fairly new to ASTA and have come across a few interesting things that P6 doesn't have! When adding a coded column, how would i add a drop down list to the fields? Rather than having to drag from the code library from the left hand side to the Gants chart bars. Hope the above query is clear. Thank you for your help in advance guys!

Hi Farhad,

When you have a column in your spreadsheet showing the code library assignments, these cells should become drop-down lists when you click in that cell - which is an alternative to having to drag on your codes.

If you amend the properties of the code library by simply right-clicking on the code library within the list on the far left (project view), you can make the code a 'single select' which means that only one code from each category can be assigned.  Perfect for items which can only be one option (e.g.. build stage?), as opposed to categories when it might be appropriate to have multiple codes (e.g.. Trade Contractors?).

Thanks,

Ben @ Asta Powerproject

Hi Farhad - Welcome to Asta and welcome to PP.

The columns and the bar chart are usually linked - type something in the right column and it appears on the chart.

I think the drag and drop feature is one of the best in PowerProject - particularly when used in conjunction with a filter.

You can have as many codes as you like but it only shows one on the chart.

Best regards
