Regional Project Controls Manager, Kentz Group, Qatar

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall administration of the project controls function for the region or major projects basis
  • Direct the establishment and implementation of Kentz standard project control procedures, tools, systems and best practices for use on projects.  Oversee modifications to these procedures for specific client requirements.  Project control procedures are to encompass all activities and systems relating to planning, cost control, contract management, forecasting, commercial and claims.
  • Manage, direct and motivate the Project Controls Group. Ensures PC group is technically qualified, have the required level of experience working on major EPC (LSTK) contracts, in working on projects within the Oil and Gas, Power and industrial sectors, and is familiar with cost engineering, estimating and planning engineering terms contained in AACE and PMI standard practices. Sound understanding of project delivery phases and activities performed in phase.
  • Ensure Project Control staffing requirements, both numbers and quality, are adequate to meet project requirements,
  • Approve selection, employment, assignment and development of all Project Control personnel in region. In accordance with the Project Controls Competency Assessment map, assess training needs and support the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Support the continual improvement, standardization and consistency of Project Control systems, procedures and work processes, in accordance with Kentz (KDL) for Project Controls.
  • Support project managers and engineering disciplines within the Business Unit to enhance their knowledge of using project management tools
  • Actively support business development efforts by providing Project Control input and resources, including estimates, plans and management support.
  • Lead effort in Benchmarking and Project Close-Out requirements, in order to implement ‘lessons learnt’ and promote a continuous improvement culture.
  • Manage overhead budgets for the Project Control Region.
  • Active support and participation in the Regional Project Controls initiatives. Capable and willing to take on additional tasks and objectives as required
  • Ensure that project managers / project controls managers are accountable for delivering capital projects according to approved project management processes and project controls; ability to streamline the processes and controls. Interface with the client and attend regular meetings, and provide statistical reports.
  • Extensive experience in planning and cost control consolidated reporting, dash boards, projects performance monitoring and reporting to accomplish corporate goals. Leads and directs the work to the team members.
  • Participates in high level client presentations and negotiations.
  • Conduct monthly department coordination / quality meeting with PC staff.
