Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Having worked as a programme manager / project manager and planning engineer for the last 4 years, starting in manufacturing and moving over to telecoms in rail sector and power station overhaul projects as planning engineer using MS project i am now looking to add primavera to my skill set.

My question is looking forward is it worth training in P3 which is still used in rail where most of my projects recently have been or should i go for P3e.

Are new contracts now using P3e or are people tending to stick to P3

Your opinions appreciated.

IMHO,

Nuclear - it is almost dictated by the NDA that P3e is used by Tier 1 and 2 contractors.

Rail - no experience in rail, but i would still go for P3e, its only a matter of time before rail goes for an enterprise strategy.

Aerospace - still tend to use MSP and OpenPlan.

Go P3e, there are plenty of jobs around and its better to be ahead of trailing industries rather than trying to catch up when everyone elso has 5 years plus on enterprise software!
