Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Resource tab ; Autocompute actuals???

My understanding of Auto compute Actual under Resource details tab is illustrate by an example , kindly correct me , if i am wrong......

For example i have an activity Excavation - and for this activity am putting 50% progress then P6 automatically assumes that 50% of the resource are also utilized for the activity (actual units) , if auto compute is activated (ticked) or else if i remove the tick or deactivate the icon , then i have to enter manually the resources utilization or actual units...

Kindly correc me , if my understanding is wrong....

Auto Compute Actual is used on Tools-> Apply Actuals… and not on manually updating % complete which is used on Activity, Expenses and resource. There are two ways of controlling Auto Compute Actual when applying actual for Expenses and Resource. If Auto Compute Actuals is tick on Activity module (Columns-> General-> Auto Compute Actuals) and Apply Actuals is run then both Expenses and Resource will automatically update the actual based on planned dates to datadate regardless auto compute is not tick on Expenses and resource. If Auto compute actuals is un-tick on Activity and resource auto compute actual is not tick and Expenses auto actual is tick then only Expenses actuals will be updated or vice versa which ever is tick.

Note: If Progress spotlight is used for updating progress Activity, Expenses and Resource actual will be updated automatically regardless auto compute actuals is tick or not.
