Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

I have created a role namely "Site Engineer" and then i have created a resource Mr. "X".

I have given price/Unit for the roles for example $200/h to the role. But , when i assign this resource i.e. Mr. X to the role, the price / unit assigned to the roles is not shown in price/unit of the resources?

I want to know the reasons, why does price / unit which was assigned to the role,is not taken by the resource , if the said resources is assigned to the role??

Can anybody have better explanation?

Moreover , My understanding of roles and OBS , are that roles can be assigned to an activity but OBS can be assigned only to WBS, that is the only difference between roles and OBS, is my thinking correct, if not kindly explain.......

Haresh,
You need to change the rate source from resource to role if you wanted to use roles rate as I explained to you before. Below link is the forum that explain further
Cost Coding of activities Post #29

Roles Rate

Roles is not the same as OBS. OBS is the organizational breakdown structure which is also used for granting security access in P6 while roles is use to represent high level resource which normally used in pre-planning stage if detail resource are not available and being replace by resource during detail planning.
