Hi,

When ever I open a project or projects in the project view the project opens and then goes directly into the activity view.

This never used to happen, it used to just open and I would select the activities icon on the left hand tool bar (little green bar) to enter the activity view when I was ready to go into it.

(I am doing some work on baselines and want to stay working in the project view and not interested in the activities for this excercise)

Does anyone know where the setting is to control this behaviour?

I am working in release 6.1

Rob,

I just find out that in P6.2 v7 is based on the industry type that you choose determines the terminology and default settings that display in P6.
Ex:
Engineering and Construction (ec) default = Activities
Government,Aerospace, and Defense (pd) default = Users Define
Utilities, Oil, and Gas (mt) default = Projects

Rob,

It will bt the 5 digit code when you install the system at the start. Are there any field name changes e.g. is what used to be "origonal duration" now "planned duration" or vice versa?

Thanks for the reply.

The "where you land" bit when you start P6 is controlled by following :

Edit > User Preferences > Applications tab. Under the Startup Window, you should be able to choose "Projects" as opposed to "Activities".

they change the way the P6 application itself behaves when you log in, so it will open up in the area you have selected.

My problem happens after I have "Landed", It is when I open one or more of the projects in the projects area. I want to stay there but P6 defaults to the activity view as soon as it opens the project/s.

The installation is done over the network so I am not sure what settings they used.

We are using ver 6.2. my understanding is this was a reinstall of 6.2

I suspect an .INI file change or something.

Where you "land" when you start P6 and what happens when you open a project has two components.

When P6 is installed for the first time you have to type a code, e.g.

EC C01 or
MT c01

The settings this code creates are NOT changeable. It determines all sorts of defaults.

Within those setting you can have some influence under "User:Preferences:Application" about where you "land" when you open Primavera.

Did either of you guys do an upgrade to primavera recently?

Did you "migrate" the data or was it a new installation?

Hi Pinan,

that is exactly it, I think we have the same problem in reverse. Mine used to stay in the project view when I opened the project, and I could select when I wanted to go into the activity view. Now it does it for me and I want it to stop :-)

let me know if you find a fix

hi rob you mean it was a default setting to you (open project and stays in project view)?

my default before was it goes directly into activity view

but suddenly, now whenever i open a project in project view it stays there

i want it back as it was (directly to activity view)
