Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

Im using Primavera Contractor 5.0 and would like to have the bar show up thicker so that we can easily distinguish the baseline bar vs the progress bar and critical activity bar.

Is the possible solution to reduce the limits of the timescale to 3 years and also to tinker with page set up prior to printing?

Thank you for the help its a strain on the eye so far.

you have to do 4 things

1. select view bars

2. check the primary baseline box and in the bar shape select the drop down and select the last bar this will put it lower in the row. Also make sure that it is on row 2 (lower left hand side under row)

3. look at the settings for the actual work bar, remaining work bar and the critical remaining work bar. in the bar shape choose the 2nd bar shape for each of these and make sure that they are all assigned to row 1.

4. go to edit table font and row uncheck keep current row height and choose Select height for all rows and make it 30

Hello

The answer to make the baseline bar wider is:

Right click in the gantt chart area, click on Bars, click on Primary Baseline, click on the Bar Style tab and change the shape to suit. Personally, I set the width of the baseline bar to the same size as the Remaining Work and Actual Work bars.

Hope this helps, thanks.

Hi Niyaaz
I don’t really understand what is your intention but may be this will help:
1. right click in the bar area
2. select "Help"-button
3. open "bar style"
4. Read. This may answer your question.

The shape is only for the bar, you selected. Row hight has no impact for the size of bars, only if it is possible to display level 2 and 3.
If this won’t help, you can send me a screenshot by private message.
Regards
Dieter

Thank you for the reply. I did try increasing the row height in the hopes that the bars on the Gantt Chart would become thicker and also not touch (right clicking on the bar would bring up a bar menu where there is a choice of selecting rows 1-3 for bar placement in relation to the other bars).

Selecting a shorter time scale period did help a little more. If any other ideas please do feel free to voice them. Thank you again.

right click on an activity.
Rows and fonts.
at the bottom change the height of the row.

it might help but it’s not really the right way to do it

Thank you for the reply but still I am not getting the desired output. When I right click on a bar in the Gantt Chart, the Bars menu comes up.

It seems that choosing the shape gives a thicker bar still does give a thick enough bar - ie still required to strain to look at it. Using the Bar Setting of row (choice of 1, 2, or 3) does not really separate say the baseine and remaining bar.

I am not sure how to hadled this, please help if u konw the answer.

In the Gantt chart, click on a bar to open up the menu.
select bar format.
Find the bar you want to edit & highlight.
Edit using the info which should be there. I.E change colour, thickness etc.
