Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

For ease & versitility, I structure my P5 programmes using Activity Codes, rather than WBS.

I now have a requirement to export to MS Project.

Because I have no WBS set up, the structure will not be carried over.

My initial plan was to export activities (with Activity Codes) to XLS, Use activity code values to set up WBS, and import back to P5.

Is there a facility to do this?

We are about to upgrade to P6. Is there a solution in P6?

Philip,

I hate say it but... "this is an existing enhancement request" that said, check out knowledge base article prim33867 for a workaround. It does however require some pretty techie skills. Another method may be to use an access front end via sdk to edit the tables but from what I have seen they are may not be to easy to use either.

Cheers,
Lorne

Hi Mark

We have SDK, which we use with the ’Dictionary.xls’. But there is no facility to import WBS. Is there another way of accessing the SDK?

Hi Phil,

Moving to P6 already! To import wbs from excel the best tool to use is the SDK (System developers kit). Download this from POINT.

I hope all is well,

Mark
