Hello Jhorbam,

In P3 , Go to Tools ---Tabular reports ----Resource -----Loading ---- ADD -----

In that NEW form , select Generate report in p3 , then CLICK Organize by , Select RESOURCE , In upper corner tick box , select Summary Report, click TIMESCALE and select Months , then click OK..u will get the report.

Orozco,

I use Spider Project. I used Spider Report for illustration purposes as I used before P3 and know it can do similar reports, just I do not recall the exact details. I always considered P3 native report generator one of the best available at the time it was at its peak.

Take a look at the Primavera Project Planner Reference Manual chapter on Resource/Cost Reports - Resource Cost Loading page 584 it will help you. If you don't have the Manual Google for it and you will find a few sites where you can download it.

Last paragraph on page 586 reads "When you organize reports by resource, cost account, cost category, activity code, or project code .....". It is obvious you can organize by Activity by using Activity Codes.

Let us know if this solved your quest.

Tarik,

What you are referring is from two separate windows, a Gantt view and a tabular report. The Gantt View you are looking is a regular Activity Gantt expanded to resources, though you can also expand it to materials if you wish.

We also have the Material Gantt and Resource Gantt views, these are Gantt views Grouped by Materials or by Resources with each Material or Resource showing the assigned activities and corresponding bars.

Even with these two additional Gantt Diagram Types it is not always enough. For example when you have to take a look at detailed numbers and the histograms showing values are nor practical. Here you need a good report generator.

P3 as well as Spider Project have great report generators, just they work with a different interface. In my opinion the big difference between the two is on the superior resource modeling functionalities available in Spider Project not available in P3. With these I can do things you cannot dream to do within P3, like true shift modeling, partial assignments, multi-resources and a few others. You got to realize more than a decade ago Primavera stopped upgrading P3.

Best regards,
Rafael

Try the following.

http://www.projectcontrolsonline.com/portals/0/primvera-com-au/070621%20...

This will allow you to export P3 database data but not necessarily report data.

As far as I can recall when you install P3 you will be asked about the option to install a report viewer and editor, perhaps within this is your answer, maybe here you can export report data to Excel. Also if I am not wrong you can copy from the report window and paste report data to Excel when these are not too big.

Rafael

Dear Gents,

from Tools == Tabular Reports == Resource == Loading

I have 4,000 activities and I added for every activity in the Program resource

I wanna to tabulate every activity within June 2010 up to Jul 13 ... as monthly
What I mean Mr.Rafael P3 Will send data at Excel Sheet Like this
Jun-2010 Jul-2010 Aug-2010......up to Jul-2013 in the first Row of Excel sheet.
And the first Column (Col.A) Contains the 4,000 activites ,and the resource Labour (for example ) distribute inside this table

I have win XP and Excel 2003 and P3 & primavera meta file
But when I make Loding it's give me Unread data or miss data etc...

Pleas
1- Do you advice me to Install any Support program help P3 to
Load these activities ?
2- Is there any command or action in P3 make Primevra Loading this activities at Excel successfully ?

Thank you and best regards

I believe Jhorbam is looking for a more detailed report, a report that will tabulate monthly resource assignments per activity, this will generate a very long report, I find it convenient to filter and distribute for short span or look ahead but using weekly assignments instead of monthly.

Because I do not have P3 I am showing a figure of a similar report, grouped by activity but detailed by weeks instead of months as we use a weekly cycle planning to manage our jobs. The top screen is a Gantt showing resource assignments using traditional bars while bellow the report displays hours per week.

Photobucket

I never had a complaint about P3 reporting capabilities, just that as in all software there are tricks and traps.

Best regards,

Rafael

Orozco,

I no longer use P3, I used it years ago but never had a complaint about the reporting capabilities, perhaps limited to what an old software can do, but it was good at reporting.

As far as I can remember part of the definition of P3 reports are report filter and report organization and sorting, among others.

Filtering and organization must be defined within the report definition, it is not necessarily the same as the layout you are actually viewing.

Perhaps activity reports cannot be grouped by activity but maybe resource reports can.

Now I am using software that in the Gantt View I can see the resource allocations per activity live, no special report needed, just expand or collapse resources as well as materials.

Regards,

Rafael

Thanks Rafael...can you show an example of how to filter my report?...well, your answer could be help me with my second point, but with the first...why P3 don't group the report by activity?...well i can obtain the report generating and .out file, i rename that file after as .rtf and open it in MS Word (is a big file)...but the report don't show grouped....Why?

Try using a filter to limit the amount of activities, 1,000 activities at 8 resources per activity makes up 1000 x 10 ( 8 resources + activity line + a space line ) = 10,000 lines, if 40 lines per page this makes 250 pages, not much for a pdf format that load pages as needed by your screen but if the software loads all at once then it might be too much.

Remember to apply the filter at the report definition table.
