Hi guys,

Im new to P6 and planning, I am working on a Tunnel job in the UK and would like to show meterage on P6, for example -
Week 1,2,3 and 4 - 42 meters of tunneling is predicted each week, but week 5 only 36m because of bad ground expected. Is there a way I can manage progress like this and show it on P6?

The only way I can seem to manage this is by using excel spreadsheets, but id rather keep it on one software program.

Thanks

Yep, thank you Dieter, Raviraj and Vladimir.

All sorted now... Now all I have to do is print the resource usage chart and the gantt on the same page :-)

I don’t really understand your item.
P6 has the resource type "material".
1. Define required unit of measure - if not yet done:
Admin --> Admin Categories --> Units of Measure --> Add ...
2. Define Resource of type Material - under Details.
3. Assign this resource to those activities you’ll need.
4. To have an overview and the results of your planning: View--> Show on bottom --> either Resource Usage Spread or Resource Usage Histogram. One restriction: you can just show resources with the same unit of measure in the histogram.
Was this your question?
Regards
Dieter

All I really need it to do is display how many meters we are are expecting to do each week, and be able to put in actuals throughout the project. The resource schedule looks like the ideal layout, but it edits when scheduled.

Thanks for your help so far too.

Shane
Actually there is a need to link a lot of data with these meters (physical quantities of work - physical volumes) - material requirements per each meter, cost per meter, resource productivities in meters per hour, etc. Unfortunately Primavera do not plan physical quantities of work to be done, if you need it try to find some other software. Workarounds do not help.

Shane,

Check ur resource levelling options. (Go to Tools --> Level Resources)

Uncheck theses three options:
- Automatically level resources when scheduling, AND
- Preserve scheduled early and late dates
- Level all resources

Cheers,

Rav

Thanks Raviraj,

I think I got it now - they seem to be a little erratic though, as I would like to click on week one and assign 42 meters, then week two and assign 36 meters and so on. but when I change datesand reschedule, the usage changes.
