Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have P3 running on Vista Ultimate and on Windows XP on Virtual PC 2007 on the same PC ie. a dual operating system. Virtual PC 2007 is a free download from Microsoft.

To run P3 from Vista is quite straightforward

1. Install P3 as normal accepting default paths etc.
2. Put an P3 icon on the desktop.
3. Right click on the P3 icon and select properties
4. Select the COMPATABILITY tab
5 Check the "Run this progam in compatibility mode for" box
6. Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" in the drop down menu
7. Click on Apply

You should now be able to run P3 without any problems.

To run under a virtual PC is lot more involved.

There are a couple of issues to be aware of.

1) Don’t install it in the "C:\Program Files" directory or you cannot access your report files. Use the default C:\P3WIN directory.

2) Vista does not support ther .HLP help file extension used by P3, so your help files will not work.

3) MS Office 2007 no longer supports the .WK1 spreadsheet format. Stick with MS Office 2003 or switch over to using the database file output option.

Good luck!

I believe official policy from Pv is that they have tested it on vista 32 bit and it works but they won’t support it and that it won’t run on Vista 64bit, however that data may have changed in the last few months.
