Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have few groups of activities at level 3 of my project, I am failed to give them subheadings, I tried all functions available for WBS (TOOL, WBS, and STRUCTURE):
RFOMAT, ORGANISE, WBS and ORGANISE NOW
Subheadings go to the WBS hierarchy but not on the top of my required group of activities. Anyone pl help?

Hi Paul,

It’s very simple. Please follow this steps.
1) Select Format-> Organize from the menu or click Organize icon.
2) You got two option by Activity data item or Work Breakdown Structure.
3) Tick Activity Data Item and click the "+" sign to add.
4) Select activity code that you used for grouping your activities (i.e. Phase, Area, Discipline, WBS...etc)
"Say you wanted to group by Area then by Discipline then by WBS."
5) If you want subtotal on each summary click Total column and select from drop down menu whether Top or Bottom which ever you want to show your summary subtotal.
6) Click Option and Tick Value, Description or what ever you want to show on the title of your summary band.
7) Tick Band if you want that the summary band will continue to bar area or line if up to columns only.
8) Click Organize and that should give you a summary band and subtotal per activity groups.

Hope this help.

Paul,

How can you identify your group of activities? Do you have activity codes to group them? If does, organise it with your activity codes and it will give you a summary band on your activity codes groupings.

Hope this help
Rodel.

Thanks Bijaya
It works well for new WBS, but in my project the situation is that I need to split the existing group of activities in further subgroups. My all efforts including your suggestion is not working here.

Check these two things.

Have you assigned the WBS to your activities at all?

After assigning WBS, have you organized it by Work breakdown?

In Organize window check the Options. In the Activity columns, make sure the Description is ticked.
