I have been trying to install Primavera P3 planner on Win XP. Whenever i click ’setup.exe’ the message ’Attemt to access invalid address’ comes up. Have tried running the setup from hard disk but the same problem. Works fine on my friends PC with Win XP. Any body has any idea about this?

I did try to do it using control panels add or remove program but it comes up with the same message. Yes it could be because of the reason that it is a 16 bit application. But it does install successfully on other computers. Is there any settings in windows XP that could let a 16 bit application run?

Hi Raza,

Try to install from "Add or Remove Programm" in Control Panel, instead of directlly from "Window Explorer".

I think it is due to 16bit application problem, i hope you will not have any problem of installing other applications. If so, try to download some patch files(P3 with latest Service Packs) from P3 knowledge base, i hope this would resolve your problem.

Hi Kamran Thanks for the response. Yes mine is the only account on my PC and i believe it is the administrator as well. Theres definitely some really tiny problem that doesnt let me install it. The same installation disc works fine on other PC’s with virtually the same operating system.

Wasi, I tried P3 ver. 3.0 & 3.1 on my PC under Windows XP (I don’t recall any Service Pack installed) and both worked fine. I am in doubt this is the problem with P3. Most probably something is wrong with your OS. Do you have Administrator account in this PC?

I believe its P3 3.0 not sure which service pack. No i did not have any other Primavera before. Do we normaly have to make some changes in Win XP before installing since it runs fine on the same version of XP on my friends PC.

Older versions of P3 (prior to P3 for Windows, Version 2) will not run on XP machines. You should be running P3 Version 3.1, Service Pack 3 to ensure full compatibility. Good luck!

Have you installed any P3 version prior to this in your system. May be your system requires some special privilege to install software(if so you have to contact your admin)
