Yes, this is possible. But you will have to note that the two software were developed by two different companies so the conversion does need some tweaking.

Also, keep in mind that the two software companies view project structuring differently so if you intend to copy activities from MSP to ST and then use Activity Codes, then youll be in for a lot of work. Therefore, if you convert MSP to ST, limit yourself to the Outline or WBS mode.

And dont expect to have an easy life converting MSP to and from ST. If this is the case, youd be better off deciding to standardize on only one application. I would suggest using SureTrak.

Moving a Project from Microsoft Project to SureTrak

You can open an .MPX file (created in Microsoft Project 3.0 or later) in SureTrak, and you can save it as either an .MPX (3.0) or a SureTrak project.

If you schedule a Microsoft Project project from the start date, SureTrak will also schedule it from the start date, as well as calculate the finish date. If you schedule from the finish date, SureTrak will use that date as the project deadline, or must finish by date; start its backward pass from that date; and calculate its start date.
Your Microsoft Project milestones will be start milestones in SureTrak. If you want a milestone to be a finish milestone instead, put the word "finish" anywhere in its description before opening the project in SureTrak.

WBS codes in SureTrak are structured: each code has the same number of characters between delimiters. This enables SureTrak to group activities by WBS codes and to summarize at any level of the WBS structure. When you open a Microsoft Project project in SureTrak, its WBS codes will be accepted in the current WBS structure; choose Define, WBS Codes, then click Modify Structure, to change this structure if necessary.

The Text fields from Microsoft Project (Text1 – Text10) will be the first 10 activity codes when you open the project in SureTrak. Like WBS codes, you can use activity codes for filtering, sorting, grouping, and summarizing.
Notes records from the .MPX file are converted to Log text fields in SureTrak. If the Notes record contains carriage returns, SureTrak breaks the Note at that point, putting everything after the return into another Log field. Also, since each SureTrak Log has a character limit, Notes records are split every 48 characters at the last word boundary.

Note

When SureTrak saves a project as .MPX, it renames the Global Calendar to Standard. If you will be saving any SureTrak project in .MPX format you should not name any calendars in the project “Standard.”
