Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Bringing whole schedule in by a month

I have a schedule which the PM has asked for me to bring in by an entire month.

He wishes to know which items (which perhaps aren't critical now) would become critical if the whole delivery was brought in by a month.

I realise there a number of ways to do this (finish on/mandatory constraint, Filters etc.) but I was wondering what others or experienced PPs would do.

Thanks

Hi S M

Assuming that the programme has been put together properly then the correct way to bring it in by one month is to:

1. Review the logic.

2. Increase resource levels on critical items - if workfront density allows.

3. Work overtime / weekends on critical items.

4. Check Non-Work days on the calendars.

Never do it by use of artificial constraints.

The first assumption will be your main problem because if the programme is already riddled with fundamental errors you will never get a realistic answer.
