Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

EPS Nodes & Project Files

I have certain data fields that apply to all of the projects within a node. Rather than maintinaing that data on each project schedule file it would make sense to manage them at the EPS node. However the fields available to the EPS Node are limited.

I am able to add User Defined Fields which can be added to all nodes and project files but they are just text fields and it's not possible to control the data.

Any ideas / guidance appreciated.

Brian,

Activity Codes are the ONLY feature that P6 explicitly allows to be set at EPS level.

Thanks, all. Seems you confirm my finding that Activity codes can't be applied at the EPS vevel, for now.

thanks

It could be so easy for Oracle to implement EPS level data, like Activity Codes, for

-Calendars

-Resources

-Layouts, including filters.

With the security profile model as applied to the EPS it would be so much easier for users to manage their projects. This was presented to Oracle over a decade ago, But hey its Oracle - they know what we want better than ourselves.

Brian,

Only Activity Codes have a version which is specific to an EPS node and its children. EPS codes are text only, so no arithmetic and to/from date arithmetic.

It is worth noting that if you use them, Export of projects require the receiving database to have EXACTLY the same EPS node structure to import EPS codes.

What sort of data set are your looking for? Is project codes will help?
