Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have a simple activity that has a completed predecessor and the successor is FS.  My data date is 9/1/17 with 1 day remaining on a standard 5 day calendar with no holidays.  Why is project calulating the finish date as 9/7/17, as opposed to 9/4 or 9/5?

Hi Casey,

Unlike the data date in P3/P6, MSP's status date does NOT enter into the schedule calculations.  In addition, there is no Original Duration, and the following always holds true: Duration = Actual Duration + Remaining Duration.

I expect MSP is calculating the finish date of 9/7/17 because that's what it was scheduled for already.

Updating the task status in MSP requires a bit more work than Primavera.  http://ronwinterconsulting.com/MS_Project_for_Construction.pdf

Good luck, tom
