Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,
I am working as planning engineer in pipeline project, part of our scope of work is to demolish 50 existing well head facility and build them according to new design, and the wells will be shut-down by the client and handed over to us to complete our work. The shut down schedule was provided to us by the client on tender time and we build our schedule accordingly. The SCADA system for the wells to be provided by the Client and installed by us, the client was not able to get the SCADA system on time so they want to delay the shut down 3 months in order not to loose production, and they gave us a new schedule for shut down with the delay of 3 months
According to our original plan our peak was going to start on September when shut-down of wells start and we will start to decrease by March 2007, but dew to the delay of the shut down we have revised the schedule according to the new shut down dates provided by the client where we will start to peak on April 2007 and come down by August 2007.
The client approved the payment of the indirect cost for the delay but we want to claim for the direct cost also, because our peak was on the winter time where the weather is good the production from workforce is high, while according to the new schedule our peak will be in summer (summer temperature is 45 deg. C and very high humidity) and the efficiency of the work force will go down so we require more man power to do the same work that was planned to be done on the winter. Do you think that we can submit such a claim, We calculated the total man-hours that we were supposed to work on winter and the ones we are going to work on summer (with extreme weather conditions) but I don not exactly what factor should we consider for the deficiency of the wok force, can any body give an idea in how to measure this?.
