Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear Mike/ All Experts

In one of the Asta Examples projects named as ‘House Project Example’, using task per mode method  two bars are shown as Overlapping bars in cross red and cross green colors.

How can I make/show any bar as overlapping bar in task per mode method as shown in the above example?

What are the steps for that?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris

When the bars are in a simple cascade linked FS and the setting is in Task Per Line mode you can select them and roll them up into a single line.

To set up the icon right click the tool bar > customise > hierarchy > rollup tasks + unroll tasks will set up the icons.

If in the cascade some bars over lap then they will overlap on the single task per line.

Task per line mode is very good on linear projects such as pipe lines and housing estates.

With the right coding in place you can generate a Line of Balance chart.

One downside is that you cannot copy paste progress to a rolled up bar so unroll them all and save in a view called progress.

I use the roll up method if I have a series of tasks in one location - for instance a series of finishings in a block of high rise flats which is replicated across all 40 floors.

One rolled up sample is copied 40 times and then selected and hit the link icon. You are then given a choice of Link end to end or Link task to Task.

One click and each task on each floor is linked FS to the next across all 40 floors.

Sometimes I select every third floor and that way you get a resource stagger.

Asta has lots of things to play with so keep looking and asking.

Best regards
