Dear Fellow Members,

As part of my role, as the PMO Team Leader at Caterpillar Articulated Trucks, I had to develop a team of planners from scratch which planned all brand new Caterpillar products from cradle to grave. This included planning activities from a multitude of suppliers from all over the world.

We planned and managed all new prototype development and covered engineering, procurement, and construction, from strategy development through to project close out. We would also aid in developing supplier plans and hold meetings with key suppliers, where appropriate.

This role included department process development as well as integrating planning processes with standard Cat Processes. I was also part of the Cat Global Planning Team which would develop new corporate processes and look into new software, as well as additional add on software, to aid team members in their understanding of the project.

We were the first Cat site to have an onsite team of planners to which we could become a fully integrated department with all aspects of the new product builds.
