Senior Engineer, AECOM, Network Rail, National Gauging Programme - Surveys, Analysis & Recommendations

START Date:
January, 2011

Network Rail commissioned AECOM to undertake a range of surveys in support of a programme to restore freight traffic clearances at 134 sites across the South East, Western, LNE and LNW Territories.

I am AECOMs Principal Planner and support the Project Manager in planning, directing and controlling delivery; using Primavera P6. I produce period Key Performance Result (KPR) delivery graphs and weekly works progress trackers for 4 teams.

Surveys comprised up to 4 No. types: Vertical and horizontal Survey, trial holes (Automatic Ballast Sampling (ABS) and structural) and Gauging/Lasersweep survey.

The outputs (GRIP 3 and track bed interpretive reports) provided sufficient information to establish a subsequent Approval In Principle (AIP) Track Design that addresses the identified gauge infringements.
