Onsite Senior Architect
Onsite Construction Administration for New Doha International Airport project for Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. Managing, reviewing and commentating on subcontractor’s pre-qualifications, interiors-related Material data and samples, shop drawings and RFI’s, liaising with HOK Architecture Dept., HOK Doha and Overseas Bechtel Inc. Engineering Team.
The New Doha International Airport (NDIA) includes 588,000 sq. m. of enclosed space for a new passenger terminal, with 9,300 sq. m. 100 room in-airport hotel along with a 1,580 sq. m. health spa, a 1,900 sq. m. public mosque, 3,100-car parking garage with adjacent ground transportation building, two central utility plants, and a 66,000 sq. m. state-of-the-art flight catering facility. Phases 1 and 2 concourses have 40 contact gates.
This new airport will be among the world’s first to be designed and build specifically for Airbus’ new A380-800 double-decker.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Reviewing and evaluate contractor’s submittals for lower tier subcontractors and/or venders for major purchase orders relating to past performance in the successful completion of construction work and /or supply of materials and equipment of similar nature.
- Reviewing Materials submittals comprising technical literature, samples and mock-ups as appropriate and in compliance with design specifications.
- Reviewing Shop Drawing submittals in compliance with the design intent.
- Attendance as required at site progress and technical meetings to resolve technical issues.
- Analyze technical/construction/build-ability issue and provide drawings and specifications coordinated with engineering and other disciplines.
- Prepare Field Observation Reports after each site visit using professional terminology, the observation recorded therein serves as a permanent record of the activities, installations, progress of work, weather, site conditions, etc…
- Respond to Contractor's request for information to clarify ambiguities.
