Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Any Advise would be greatly appreciated.

The project I have in mind is a 3 storey house with a basement. I am considering different options for the foundation types as I am managing the project myself and I am trying to find the most cost effective solution for a foundation to include a basement at the site. There are 2 neighbours either side of the side approximatly 2 metres away.

What are the best foundations types for this project taking into consideration the natural water table is approximatly 1.2 meters from the ground level.

Thanks,

Danny

HI Daniel

Contiguous - Secant - more or less the same thing - dont forget the structural ring beam.

You could also try temporary steel (using earth anchors) sheet piles with RC retaining wall with integrated slab.

Or permanent driven pre cast piles - fine for a single basement.

You can even get Precast retaining wall members with a precast top slab - probably the quickest option because you can work upwards and downwards at the same time.

And don't forget the old fashioned way - narrow trench with bentonite slurry and concrete poured through a tremmy pipe - messy but effective.

Plenty of options to consider.

could you explain why if you dont mind me asking? I was starting to think a contguous diaphragm wall would be the best all round option.... based on my search so far.

Thanks
