Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

This function is important for measuring progress of work but unfortunatly is not performed well in P3e.It will also avoid breaking down activities to a multitude of corresponding tasks and it will give as much as possible a realistic progress % complete that Site Construction could not measure for one general activity.

In past years, we were using excel sheet to calculate the percentage of each broken down activities related to a certain task, then get the required % complete and insert it in P3. As an example, in a construction schedule, concrete work or even each structural work like slab, column, etc. is broken down into Placement of Shutter, Reinforcement and Cast-in-Situ.

In P3e, we can add for each concrete activity the 3 mentioned steps and give them weight factors. The issue is that when we do that, update the steps with actual %, put a start date to the related activity and run it, I noticed the following:
1- Neither physical nor duration % are being calculated automatically.
2- It is not showing the actual start date on any of the steps.

Do you agree with the above or have some comments?

J.S,

You need to check two settings.
1. On the Project screen, calculations tab make sure "Activity Pct based on activity steps" is checked.
2. For the activity, make sure % compl type is Physical. This is on the status tab of activity form.

This will compute PCT of activity based on step progress.

Bill
