Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

In a 3 month programme I prepared, I added additional detailed activities and after I F9’d I left it open on my PC while doing other task.

When I returned to have a look some activities gradually disappeared from the screen. I’m not sure what I clicked but to verify what was going on I activated the filter and one by one the remaining activities also disappeared. I checked ‘all activities’ filter and it returned a blank screen save for the time scale.

Petrified, I went to the project overview and it shows total number of activities which means it does not banish at all.  This time I ran schedule again and the report is not encouraging….it says predecessors and successors cannot be found!

I noticed something though in the overview – the data date is 18 October 2010 but the early finish is 08 Dec 08! I believe this is what causes it but I just don’t know how to fix it.

This is the first time that I have encountered this problem.

Anyways, does anyone here come across with this type of glitch before? And if you do, can you please share how you fixed it? Thanks in advance.

 Edgar,

This sounds like a set-up for Halloween; the Slowly Disappearing Activities.  If this is not the case, then I suspect corrupt schedule files.  Run the program C:\P3WIN\P3PROGS\PFXW.exe, select your ‘cursed’ schedule, select all option boxes in the lower left and then Run.  After that, I would recommend using P3 to copy the schedule and use the copy.  Good luck!

Run  your schedule and from the schedule report look for finish constraints, can be in any of two ways, either a must finish date for the job or a finish constraint at the individual activity level.

Perhaps the constraints got them back in time on your last schedule run and this is why they seem disappeared.

Thanks for the response, Mai.

I have utilized both WBS & Activity codes so I can organize it either way. I think I have done all the necessary checking including the one you suggested and it still doesn't solve the problem.

Im sure there's one particular solution available I just don't know what is it.... i think the solution lies on this info "the data date is 18 October 2010 but the early finish is 08 Dec 08" as seen from the overview.

Once again thanks.
