Hi all,
Though I'm new to this forum but having read several posts from the archive, I am optimistic that someone will be able to assist me a great deal. Straight to the point, I had just gotten a new role as a planning engineer with a consultant in a construction sector. My planning experience is at the BASIC LEVEL (did few EPC scheduling in the past with minimal troubleshooting skills). Frankly speaking I wish to give this career all my best by leveraging on my new job hence a high need for your support/advise. On this note, kindly advise/hep on below:
1. What are the first set of things/checks needed to be done by a planning engr on consultant side? Especially at job resumption
2. During the transitional period from the present planning engr (sacked), what are the core things to request from him (I understand he may be reluctant), any advise on engaging him?
3. Which questions are logical/reasonable to ask the contractor-side planning engr on my first engagement with him?
4. What should be my day-to-day activities in order to attain high performance?
5. The project is ongoing with couples of delays already, How easily can I detect the causes of the delays and which docs are required to validate the delays/claims?
6. In my communications with the contractor planner, do I need to include my clients? In short, I wish to maintain a friendly environment with the contractor planner- is this a good idea?
7. Lastly, I am ever ready to READ & LEARN- pls suggest/share with me- books, links or videos.

Hope to have your feedbacks soon and thank you once again.
