Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Estimating..... a good start for a newbie planner???

Hi, I know some basic stuff in P3 but I have little experience in actual work (S-curve, Planned vs. Target Charts of 2-storey buildings only). Many planner job openings are for high-rise buildings that require 3 to 5 years of actual P3 experience. I don’t have any experience in high-rise projects. I think I’m gonna be a Quantity Surveyor first of a high-rise project, is this a good start to become a planner of this particular project? I can’t find junior planner openings.

Thanks.

Mabuhay! It is not really necessary to be a QS first before being a planner. But being a QS and at the same time a planner is a big advantage as both relates each other well. Try to upgrade and enhance your knowledge with regards to planning. And am sure, you will be there...

QS is a very different profession from planner. "BUT" because both of them working in a Project enviornment, you will gain vital experience in the project aspect in planning. Of course the best is to start as a junior planner and learn from your senior.

If your only way to get into the PROJECT business is QS or Site Supervisor, Engineer; so be it, you will learn and develop your interest in the dynamic project environment.

All the best
