Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I’ve want to swap round the X and Y axes on an Excel Line Graph produced by the Graph Wizard. I.e. I wish to plot the X data on the Vertical Y axes and the Y data on the horizontal X axes. Any ideas how I do this, witout altering the origical data from which the graph is drawn?

Alex,

At present there are not many choices and flexibility in Excel. You got to bear with Scatter XY graph with values on both X and Y axes.

Else, if you got AutoCAD using value and category try to draw the graph manually. Maybe it will help you.

Good Luck.

Hi, sorry but these still have the X axis as the category axis and the Y axis as the value axis. I need to turn them round so that the categories appear on the verical axis rather than the horizontal. Thanks anyway

What I’m trying to do is make the Y axis a Catagory axis and the X axis the value axis (By default they are the other way round)for line graphs (not scatter graphs, which have bot X and Y as values axes). Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry for being dense, but what do I change it to, as the Y data is automatically calculated from the data range.

Go to: Source Data > Series tab > change the range of cells at Values and Category (X) Axis Labels.

This will swap the X data to Y axes and Y data to X axes.

Cheers!!!
