Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

hi ,

My query is suppose my project calander is 8 of hrs and my resource calander is 24 hrs. If i have to assign that resource to a task that consumes 4 hrs , what should be my assignment fig for that resource , should it be 50% or 16%.

hi Zhang ,

I think 16% is correct . My logic being a resource is available to us as per their base calanders , so it is with respect to that time available we should fill in the assignment units.

Any different Views ?

It’s a complex issue.

In MSP there are 3 types of task, fixed duration, fixed work and fixed units. they act differently when assign/change recource.

for your question, use 50%, but maybe the duration will change based on task type.

Goto online help for details for task type, then try it
