Your question was how to convert from MSP98 to MPX and this is an option in MSP98 but it is not an option in MSP2000 onwards. One option from MSP2000’s is to save in MSP98 format and then open the file with MSP98 and save as an MPX.

There are many other methods available. There is an article on my web site that explains many of the options for conversion from MSP to and from P3/SureTrak.

Thanks Paul, but this does not appear as an option in the drop down. Might it have something to do with MSP2002 or Windows NT?

Use the menu command File, Save As and select *.mpx file format from the drop down list.

Hi Francis

I developed a Excel-macro for transfering data from MSP to P3. Quite good actualy. Either I can translate your file or send the macro if you are interested.

Francis Moyalan;

I have too much experience converting MPP files into P3e.

I alert for the fact of that u will find many problems during the conversion ... some are simple mistakes ... but there are some complicate too.

If you wish to convert from MSP to P3 Ver 3.1 then there is an article on my web site.

If you are in Primavera Enterprise the use the import function.

If you have no access to a version of MSP that will save as MPX format, Primavera have an "mpp to mpx" utility

Primavera P3e/c v4.x (and earlier), and Primavera 5 can import and export native MSP files in any format as long as MSP is on the client PC. You should probably check with your client first as to which Primavera product they use.

All versions.
a) save the schedule (in what ever versions) as MSP 98.
b) convert to MPX format.
c) open in P3 using MPX Conversion.

Regards.
