I wish to suggest the creation of a new forum on the Planning Planet - one dedicated to discussion of Schedule Risk issues, including schedule risk analysis.
There are a number of software products now in use based on the Monte Carlo method, including Primavera Monte Carlo, @Risk for Project, Open Plan and Pertmaster.
There is increasing interest in the risk aspect of project management and need for a forum where information, ideas and opinions can be exchanged.
Increasingly, schedule risk analysis is being seen as the next step in establishing and maintaining realistic project schedules and developing realistic project cost forecasts.
Questions on the significance of criticality and cruciality indexes, probabilistic links and activities, what percentage probabilities are appropriate for project completion and budget forecasts, as well as choosing the right balance between low numbers of activities for developing good duration risk distributions versus enough activities for maintaining important dependencies will be discussed.
