Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we finalise the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

I’m Andrew Willard and I am a Director of Asta Developmnent, creators of Asta Powerproject. I’ve worked for Asta for 17 years so have an in depth knowledge of the product and how it has been used in many construction and engineering projects around the world.

I’ve noticed quite a few posts from PP members saying that they’ve had a look at Powerproject but maybe didn’t think it was powerful enough or better than certain other products. At Asta we are really keen to find out how we can improve the product to make planners lives a little easier (at least from using their planning tool).

I’d like to start this post to find out from you where you think we might improve it and for you to ask me whether it can do anything you are not sure of. I’m not going to use this to sell anything to you, but to try and use it as an educational forum for both of us.

If we can’t do something I’ll tell you, but hopefully we can and you can start to understand why many 1000’s of planners chose our product.

Thanks

Andrew Willard

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your feedback.

We do have plans to improve the link between the project and its’ baselines and I’ll keep you informed.

I have been reading the discussions on Spider and must admit I have been impressed by Vladimir’s input into the forum. If I can achieve the same with Powerproject I am sure it will improve planners knowledge of our product.

All the best

Andrew

Hi Andrew

This is a good start - I have been using powerproject since v 3.1 and have followed all the developments since then.

I would like to be able to embed baselines - same as you can now embed borders - so that when a chart is emailed to another user I don’t have send the baseline chart as well.

You may have noticed that there is a big discussion going on relating to the Russian product called Spider.

I would suggest that you have a look at that software as it seems to outperform PowerProject in a number of areas.

You will also have seen that Oracle are organising a Primavera Webinar on PP - I don’t see why they should have a monopoly of such sales pitches.

Best regards
