Title Seeking information about TILOS
Hi
I am Nilesh.
I am working with a EPC Company (DODSAL-IN DUBAI ) where PRIMAVERA is being used for all purposes.
My company’s strength lies in Pipeline Projects and now we are doing a Rail Project also.
I am doing an analysis whether switching to TILOS would be beneficial or not.
Can I have views of all you expert guys on this.
Thanks & Regards
Nilesh

Resource calculation in TILOS
Nilesh.
TILOS resource model is adapted to construction production planning and control:
Quantity and work rate on task level allow easy calculation of duration. Quantity gets used in resource calculation and based on production rate needed resources can be calculated. Reverse, one or more resources can set task work rate. Sample Mass Haulage: Excavator sets productivity; TILOS calculate needed trucks based to move earth. If extra excavator or bigger is added, TILOS updated trucks automatically.
We have quantity, time and fixed assignements.
Quantity can be calculated even from distance profile imported from land surveying programs.
can you tell me how to

Linear Scheduling with TILOS: Time Location Software
Dear Nilesh,
those are the main points where TILOS and Primavera are different regarding linear projects:
1. In TILOS you can plan the activities according the needs of the location / site. Your plan is more accurate and covers all the problems and clashes that are invisible in Gannt Chart Structure.
2. With TILOS you can DISPLAY the schedule in a Time-Distance Chart with reference to the site plan and site information. That means: Most effective understanding and presentation of a linear project. Information like elevation and the location of stations and hindrances is naturally connected.
3. In TILOS you can progress not only time and quantities: You can also progress DISTANCE: That means: You directly see, which parts of your pipeline is finished, which parts are still to do and to which locations you have to come back later.

I agree with Matt, once you get used to using Tilos it will always be your first choice for linear projects.
