Structural Design Engineer, Coyne et Bellier Ingenieurs Conseil, Arch at Vanderkloof Dam and Cabora Bassa Dam

Working under the Project Leader for Arch Dams in the firm, I participated in the structural design of two large arch dams which were due to be built in Southern Africa and in the adjudication of the tenders for one of them.

1970 - 1971: Structural design of ancillary works to the Arch at Vanderkloof dam on the Orange River in South Africa, including the silt valve houses, the main spillway bridge, the apron training wall, the apron and the apron training walls. I also participated in the design analysis of the arch and the design and detailing of reinforcemen in high stress areas near the foumdation.

1972: January to March: Geotechnical calculations to determine the degree of strengthening required to the flanks of the Cabora Bassa dam on the Zambezi River in Mozambique (requested by the Contractor.

1972 April to October: Adjudication of the tenders received for Vanderkloofdam.
