I was employed with STRABAG as a Time Scheduler, for the Tajura Infrastructure Project. STRABAG (www.strabag.com) is working in joint venture with LIDCO (Libyan Investment & Development Company) for Tajura Infrastructure Project, which has been awarded to them.

Major projects:

• The project was named as Tajura Infrastructure Project, as it was mainly to develop the area of Tajura Shabia. The scope was for development of underground infrastructure & utilities viz, Sewerage system, Storm Water system, Water Supply system, Gas network, Electrical network, and transportation infrastructure which include Road & Bridges, for the entire area of Tajura Shabia which is approximately 3800 ha. Each domain viz Sewerage, Storm Water, Water Lines, Gas Network, Electrical Network & Roads have approximate total length of 200 Km for each domain. There was additional scope of development of internal areas of Tajura which was schedule to follow, as a separate project after the completion of current primary scope of works.

My role in the team as a Time Scheduler/Planner was to act as a gateway for exchange of technical information between the site and the office. This primarily involved understanding the scope of work and vision of Technical manager & Project manager working mainly at office, to complete the awarded works in easy & best feasible way to Construction manager and Project engineers working mainly at site. At the same time, make a plan (baseline) for awarded works & update the plan periodically, by translating the data & information received from site & office & all departments via the planning tool Primavera P6.7 (approved Planning tool by Client). Besides assisting generation of required reports & back up documentation of weekly & monthly meeting, my role enable me to provide the employer and the client with up-to-date status of awarded work through various reports using Primavera, after each progressive update of the program monthly. It also enabled me to provide to the project manager accurately the critical information such as the slippage in the base plan & also the forecast and look ahead, so as to enable corrective actions in advance, thus avoiding further hindrances in achievement of planned works.
