Programme Controls Director, Mace, HA
Lee is a Project Controls Director within Major Programmes and Infrastructure. He is currently working with the Highways Agency defining a Programme of work to deliver Motorway upgrades across the network. Within this role he is developing the project controls service for the Highways Agency building on the existing processes and adding the best practices from Major Programmes. His team is responsible for the planning, analysis control and reporting of the programme to make sure that it is delivered on time and budget to the client’s satisfaction.
Lee lead the Programme Controls team for the Transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park after the London 2012 games, ensuring that the project was delivered on time and on budget. This built on Lee’s 20 years’ of experience in the construction industry as a contractor and in project management consultancy on large infrastructure projects as diverse as widening the M25 motorway, constructing a station on the Jubilee Line Extension, extending an airport terminal and delivering the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He has also worked in the commercial property sector where his engineering experience was used to plan and monitor complicated refurbishment projects.
Lee’s early career was spent as a site engineer where he developed an interest in the planning and sequencing of works on site. This interest, coupled with experience in a structural engineering consultancy, led him to specialise as a planning engineer and gain experience in pre-construction and on site planning for complex engineering projects.
Lee’s background in large infrastructure projects made him the ideal person to be appointed to CLM as the planning and scheduling manager for the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre for the London 2012 games. This established Lee’s interest in project controls and underlined the importance of integrating cost and schedule reporting into programme delivery to keep projects running on time and budget, with as much certainty as possible.
